About Doris Sullivan

Long-time activist for civil rights, women’s rights, 99%, unions, LGBT, #StopRush Feminist Slut, AARP, Hillary 2016, VETS! Left Democratic Party after what I saw as  its 2008 betrayal of women! Returned to Democratic Party with a vengeance in 2011 due to Republicans extreme religious zealot actions and I thought it was clear that Obama’s 2012 re-election might be in trouble! I was still carrying the hurt I felt from the Democratic Party’s 2008 actions but there was no doubt which party supported the issues I support and which party does everything they can to destroy those same causes!  So, rose-colored glasses are gone and I do now see BOTH political extremes clearly; but I’ll call the Democratic Party my home once again!

For more years than I care to state, I was a loyal, very biased and somewhat extremist member of the Democratic Party.  My rose-colored glasses were ripped off in 2008 when the Democratic Party, that I thought supported women’s rights, outright betrayed the first highly qualified and experienced woman for President, Hillary Clinton.

And, please, don’t jump to a conclusion that I’m a racist just because I didn’t think that Obama was ready for the job.  I was just as enamoured with him when he gave his speech at the 2004 Democratic Convention as anyone who heard it.  I just felt like and still feel that the Democratic Party chose an inexperienced MAN over an experienced WOMAN; and it was like a slap in the face to many of us who had fought for years for women’s rights and thought we were in a political party that supported us!

When I left the Democratic Party in 2008, I could see clearly how both parties and the media manipulated the news and lied to the public in an effort to get or to maintain political power and it sickened me!  And, even though I have now returned to the Democratic Party,  I will frequently be critical of representatives of any political party or members of the media that I consider to be using their positions to lie to the public or are misrepresenting something their opponents have said or done.

Of course, I haven’t changed so much as to ever support a conservative member of the Republican Party; after all, I’m still a strong supporter of civil rights, women’s rights, and the 99%! :-)   But, I will from time to time appear to support a Republican IF what they have said or done is being misrepresented by the same media types who convinced the public to vote for an inexperienced man over an experienced woman and who also helped to elect George W. Bush (highly unqualified) over Al Gore (highly qualified)!

So, many of my posts will involve politics in some way but topics may jump from politics to science/technology news to new inventions/innovations to just outright hilarious things I’ve seen or read.  Of course, there’s a strong possibility that you will have a reaction to my reaction so please feel free to comment and drop by often. :-)

UPDATE: Due to religious zealots’ use of the freedom of religion argument to introduce and pass laws all across our country that discriminate against and religiously persecute women, I will be supporting the Democratic Party in 2012.  All women need to join together and vote those bastards out of office!  Moderate Republicans, I am sorry but I don’t see any way for you to control the religious zealots who have taken over your party and introduced such horrendous laws against women!  I realize that the Democratic Party has its extremists who sometimes support views that are not in the best interests of our country but they are nowhere near as dangerous as the religious zealots who are currently in control of the Republican Party.

You and I started our journeys at polar opposite points but it seems like we landed in the same middle place. But to clarify – while I was brought up in a conservative Republican home, at least the folks weren’t ‘believers’ out to spread that ever lovin’ good word!

Thanks for the follow and I look forward to your posts! :-)

Really love your philosophy page! Wish I had time to read ALL that’s on your site; what a collection! :-) Yeah, the middle can be a tough place to be, especially when taking blowback from both extremes, neither of which will ever believe that you’re not just a member of the other extreme striking out at them. LOL Will be reading your past posts every chance I get along with your new ones. :-)

Oh, forgot to mention that even though recently “the believers” have been the Republicans, there’s no shortage of “the believers” in the Democratic Party. For some of them you just have to remove the word “God” and replace it with whatever their current extremist cause is. :-) And here comes the blowback I mentioned before. :-)

I thought I’d lost the link to your blog and searched like mad to find my way back here…eek! I’ve bookmarked it in case it gets lost in the shuffle of email subscriptions again. I’m really glad you like the philosophy page and blog. The whole thing is just for my own amusement and to keep my poor family from having to listen to my ranting and hollering about everything that’s not right in the world but it’s nice to know others read now and then! :-)

I get smacked constantly from both sides, too. Don’t support Occupy? Evil capitalist hater! Don’t support Perry’s public prayer? Evil atheist hater! There’s not much wiggle room here, is there? On the bright side, it keeps ya on your toes and always ready to defend your stance at all times…for every 2 line comment…or FB photo…or Tweet you might send out that upsets one or both sides. I know my job is done when I manage to set off both sides in a single post! ;-)

So glad you found your way back! Got a good laugh about your blog keeping your poor family from listening to ranting because that’s exactly what mine does. LMAO!

Yep, I’m kinda new at this “middle” position but it’s amazing how much more clearly I can see both sides now that I’ve been thrust into the middle by the 2008 election. :-) But you’re absolutely right that it keeps you on your toes. Also keeps me constantly reading just to try to make sure that I’ve got the facts BEFORE I open my mouth. :-) And, ticking off both sides in a single post IS pure pleasure! :-)

Well I’m really glad I’m not all alone out here in Middlesville! Looking forward to blogging and ‘tweeting’ with you!

I cannot put enough credibility to your statement:
“‘The Believers’ Both on Right & Left Must Be Watched!”
Our website plans on doing exactly that later this summer. In the name of integrity, I will not promote the site, but wish to stay in touch when we do go live. We are not-for-profit.

Please do keep in touch! :-) Agree with your website goals except encouraging spiritual wisdom through the “voice of God”; tend to be cautious when anyone uses “voice of God” to rally people! :-(

I just found the “voice of God” reference. Although not related to the site I am developing, the link is reason for caution. Thank you for the feedback.

Your welcome! And, I appreciate the fact that you checked for it! :-) Good luck with your website! :-)

I don’t want a website but I did like the article about the election of an inexperienced man over a woman…hilary was so ready to take it on…

Hi, I hope you had a good summer. The campaign season was a tad brutal, but we can rest a bit easier now. The reference to the “voice of God” has been removed. Thanks again for pointing that out. I did want to reach out again, to let you know that ppoll.org is getting ready to track and compare Representative’s votes against the wishes of their constituents. Please visit our site, and consider registering and helping us promote our vision.
